Buy the last ever DSLR from this classic brand before it’s gone forever

According to Camera Price Buster, Pentax DSLRs are essentially finished in the UK. There are still a few retailers are still selling a few Pentax K-1 Mark II with cameras showing as “in stock” in various configurations – now with a big £500 discount! There are no Pentax Kf cameras in stock anywhere (in the UK). Stocks appear very limited in the US as well.

In fact, if you want a Pentax DLSR, then the K-1 Mark II seems to be the only choice left, as the Pentax KF is no longer listed on the Ricoh EU website. The Pentax K-1 Mark II is an ‘end of year offer’ which reminds me of the previous news from Ricoh/Pentax regarding the end of Pentax DSLRs: Pentax DSLRs have been ditched for an ‘entirely new camera concept’ that’s somehow, still a DSLR. So if you want to grab a bargain on a full-frame Pentax DSLR, then now is the time. But, you also need to be aware that there will be limited new stock of cameras and lenses. If you’re happy buying used, then this might not be an issue.

Pentax were one of the last brands that still said there was a future in DSLRs – cameras with an optical viewfinder and reflex mirror built-in – but it seems like those days are slowly coming to an end. Whilst Canon and Nikon both still sell DSLRs, we haven’t see any new DSLR cameras or lenses from these brands for years – as they have entirely switched to releasing mirrorless cameras. So, it comes with a sadness that Pentax are disappearing from the market, but if you’re happy to buy used or second-hand, then you could be in for a bargain.
